Tennis

Tennis is a racket sport played between two players (singles) or two teams of two players each (doubles). It takes place on a rectangular court divided by a net. Players use a stringed racket to hit a lightweight, hollow rubber ball covered with felt over the net, aiming to land it within the boundaries of the opposing player’s court. The game is played in a series of sets, and the objective is to win points by ensuring the opponent is unable to return the ball according to the rules. Scoring in tennis progresses from points to games to sets, culminating in a match win. Originating in France in the late 12th century, tennis has evolved into a globally popular sport with various formats and surfaces, including grass, clay, and hard courts. The sport emphasizes skill, strategy, and athleticism, and features prominently in international competitions, including the four Grand Slam tournaments: the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
